Who We Are

The NBDC board is not only made up of experts in latest scientific techniques and administration functions, but also includes members from the participants’ communities to act as stewards of samples held by the NBDC. These Native American community board members will oversee activities in order to prevent ethical violations, the data from being mishandled, and informed consent from being mismanaged. Furthermore, the samples will be stored on sovereign Native American land, on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe, which will provide additional protections for the participants’ samples from exploitation.
